Happy Holidays, BAWSC Water Sports Enthusiasts!

Can you believe this festive time of year has swiftly arrived?
It wasn’t too long ago where we were reveling in warm temps, running around in shorts and a t-shirt, and excitedly hitting the water with our skis, wakeboards, and surf boards.

Well, reality has set in, and Mother Nature has fervently stepped in and cast the crisp air, whistling winds, cloudy skies, and long-awaited rain!

As we settle into this somewhat “hard-to-accept” weather change for all of us warm-weather fanatics, let us remember that tis the season to warmly (no pun intended) reflect on all the parts of our lives that bring joy, peace, and love.

Some of these things may sound minute but being grateful for the smallest nuggets that arrive help to illuminate what is important to us, allowing us to feel cozy, comforted, and safe! Remember that a simple gesture like giving someone a smile (with the constant mask wearing, it’s more like looking for the smile in someone’s eyes) or saying/sending kind words can make a world of difference for everyone.

So, make sure you continue spreading a little sunshine and love to not only your family and friends but to those you meet whether you’re out shopping or going about your daily business.  Everyone needs and appreciates a little showering of support/help, wit, humor, and kindness especially during the holidays and this relenting pandemic journey!

Let’s all come together and reach out to one another.

I for one am incredibly grateful to be a part of this wonderful club not only as a participant but also as an active contributor. It makes my heart warm with fond memories of our times on the water as well as at other events.

So don’t be shy about volunteering – you’ll definitely reap the rewards and the Board is happy to help you 'learn the ropes'!

In this last issue of 2021, check out the November/December edition of Flat Water Times:

    - ‘
From the Board” article where Jerry Baxter shares the history of the San Joaquin Delta

    - Election Results for the 2022 Board

    - 2021 Volunteer Appreciation Awards

    - Let’s Catch Up

    - Updated Health and Wellness videos
Here’s one of the few videos in this issue.

Pictures/Videos Requested: If you have any pics or videos of you enjoying yourself with friends/family/BAWSC members, please send them to our Photo Editor, Venice Scherer: scherer777@comcast.net and she will post them to the BAWSC flickr account.

If you need more information, go to the BAWSC website:  www.bawsc.org

I would like to take a moment to thank everyone who has supported me in various ways over the years – believe me when I say that no kind gesture is ever too small to notice.

It’s truly been an honor to be the Flat Water Times Editor (for the past 11 years – wow, how time truly has whisked by), and I look forward to continuing as newsletter editor in 2022.

Wishing all a safe, joyous holiday season filled with good health, ‘sparks of joy’ moments and pauses for peace
    and comfort!

May 2022 bring you new friends and exciting adventures.
